Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

I'm an ambivalent person doing the best I can.

eta: I really HATE my money issues. Rational self looks at them and laughs. The rest of me freaks out. I swear to god, I'm not a granddaughter of the Depression (as I actually am,) not a daughter of the Depression, I'm mentally of the Depression. It makes no sense.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Well, that makes you, at the very least, better than me.

Randomly, we bought an MP3 Player for Noah and one for Grace because they were a fraction of the price listed here. What's cool and freaky is that they come with, I think, a bear-shaped pouch so you can make it look all cute and fuzzy and hang it from a crib. But the round thing in the center lights up when music plays. So essentially, it looks like my kids have an Iron-Man Bear Mp3 Player.

And I loaded some songs on it because the factory songs? NOT the business.

I should go to sleep. I'm a loser.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh, sara, you are a good-hearted person!

I agree with Kat.

I am in denial that I have just one week to put the house back together, prepare for Franny's b-day party, redo my office (we moved buildings), and get ready for classes. Add to that that my MiL has her surgery (or whatever they call it, a procedure) on Monday too, so we'll also need to care for her. And that kindergarten starts in two weeks. Yeesh.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Has anyone heard or read this anywhere else? - unconfirmed report that Paul Newman has passed.

I really hope it's wrong but he's been sick. He hasn't been at a track with his race team for the last several races.

It's just weird. I can't really articulate further. I'll do it.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I haven't seen it anywhere, Sumi, but I wouldn't be shocked. Sad, but not shocked.

Dara Torres makes me want to do situps. I'm only two years older than she is!

I hope that Sumi's rumor isn't true.

"Who are those guys?"

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm an ambivalent person doing the best I can.

I suspect this describes most of the people who have changed the world for the better.

Not that I don't think she's doing amazing things, but for a $100K (what she's spent a year on trainers, nutritionist, masseuses), I probably could look pretty darned ripped too. Of course I would have to spend most of that on lipo.

Hey, he said it was complicated....

Maybe he's in a complicated relationship with god?

Oh, sara, you are a good-hearted person!

I would like to put an ! point on that.

Canada finally won a medal! Three medals! A gold and a bronze in woman's wrestling (two different wight classes), and a silver in rowing.

I just got home from the farmers market, put my coffee down, unpacked by groceries. Then couldn't find my coffee. After looking in every room in the house, I finally found it, then managed to spill it all down my front. Clearly my coffee doesn't want to be drunk.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Got up waaay too early for a Saturday to bring the cats in for their annual checkup and shots.(Luna led us a merry chase all over the house before we got her in the carrier. Nova was easily picked up and placed in her carrier.) Waiting on the bloodwork results, but otherwise they seem to be healthy(if a bit pudgy) cats.
