Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
t waves from her desk at WORK where she doesn't want to be
Well, that ~~ma is some powerful stuff. Sis came through the surgery great - she was at her own house lounging in her own living room by 9pm last night - but the best news is that the doctor was wrong. NO CANCER. Chronic thyroiditis. They removed half her thyroid still, but you can function with half and she won't need Synthroid or the like. She has a killer incision, though. I told her we would be calling her by her middle name, Anne, for awhile. She asked why and I said, "That way I'm the Other Boelyn Sister". She laughed and threw a gauze packet at me.
Thank you all so much for the ~~~ma and thoughts and prayers. I would have never gotten through this without youse guys.

Sean, poor S. I hope you guys get some answers today so she can come home. Being hospitalized is SO not fun.
Honestly, he cannot conceive that sometimes, shit beyond our control happens and sometimes, we all need some help. Totally clueless.
I actually adore running into these idiots, because they run their mouth, then I open mine, do some educating, and make them feel stupid. It’s quite fun. I’ve gotten to do it on the topics of social security, food stamps (and welfare in general), unemployment, workman’s comp (which went to a lawsuit), and mental illness. I hate that I have to do it, but I find great pleasure watching their faces as they discover that they’ve just insulted the person they’re talking to. Oh! And I use REALLY big words (not always, but sometimes I use words they couldn’t possibly know the meaning of) to show that I’m well-educated and well-spoken to help show that it can happen to anyone.
It needs to be pointed out that drunk meara is too much fun to read.
We're going to send her a card with a check to pay a month's rent to help out but I don't blame her for her situation at all. She's just had a run of bad luck.
You’re good people.
Aimee! That is such good news! So glad to hear it. So sad I had to hear it from you sitting at your desk at work.
Yay, Aimee's sister!
Yay for good news for your sister, Aimee!
Ok, so since there is interest in it, I'll go ahead and put the recipe here. I cadged it from the Minnesota Catholic Daughters' cookbook.
Old Fashioned Tomato Soup
3 tbs butter
2 tbs flour
1 tsp. or less salt (I omit it altogether when making it for clients on a low-sodium diet and still get rave reviews)
1/2 tsp pepper
1 quart tomatoes (a big can of crushed tomatoes or tomato puree works well)
1/4 tsp baking soda
4 c or less of milk
Blend first four ingredients in heavy large saucepan over low heat. Add tomatoes, cook 5 minutes. Add soda and milk. Bring to boil - reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Will not curdle.
ETA: formatting.
Cash, ~ma for things to work out for your DH's cousin.
Good news! Quick recovery ~ma to your sister, Aims.
My son is in the clueless crowd and I don't understand why. He sees plenty. And he complains all the time about boring stuff in life. "I hate sorting the whites." "XYZ work chore is so boring, I hate it." "I hate cleaning the floor." I tell him he better start doing better in school or he faces a long life of boring work. I took his laptop away because of grades. Over spring break he has had to come to the office and accomplish a set list of tasks before he gets to use an office computer. Poor deprived child.
That's fantastic news about your sis, Aimée!
Mmmmm, plans to make tomato soup for DH and me. Silly kids don't like tomatoes. Don't know where they got that from.
When I was getting up this morning, Ellie informed me that she was *not* going to get up but would watch Frisco while I took a shower. I was very nervous because there have been some pinching incidents but she has been very nice lately. After I turned on the water and she thought I was in the shower, I peeked in on them. She was lying next to him, holding his hand and saying "don't cry Fico, Mommy be right back" and then just telling him about going to school today, basically repeating stuff that I had been telling her. It was so sweet it almost killed me.
