I really wish I had brought my camera. Will take pics next time. It's sooo beautiful. The detail work on the tile and the doors and the windows is lovely. And everything is so OPEN. The office has two sets of french doors that open onto a deck overlooking the pool and garden, the dining room opens onto a patio in the same way. There's skylights and such to bring natural light into the main entry way.
But I kept getting lost and forgetting where I was in relation to the rest of the house.
That does sound just gorgeous. I want an office like that.
My office will be westfacing, so I'll get some of the not-best light, but we're going to put trellises and a grapevine out there to temper it. But I don't mind getting some of the light, because I'm cold a lot of the time and welcome the extra heat.
We put the SO and his recording studio at the east side of the house 'cause he's become an early bird and me at the west side because I'm a night owl.
Is he going to invite us all to a housewarming party?
The house sounds gorgeous!
Yikes! Bad news for NYC sushi aficionados: Staggering Levels Of Mercury Found In Top NYC Sushi Spots
Recent laboratory tests found so much mercury in tuna sushi from 20 Manhattan stores and restaurants that at most of them, a regular diet of six pieces a week would exceed the levels considered acceptable by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Sushi from 5 of the 20 places had mercury levels so high that the Food and Drug Administration could take legal action to remove the fish from the market. The sushi was bought by The New York Times in October.
Mutant pig, mutant pig, does whatever a mutant pig does...
Did we have this before? I think this is a different one.
Two-snouted, three-eyed piglet born in China
Hot in the (many) footsteps of the six-legged cow and the three-legged duck comes another animal you won't find on Old MacDonald's farm - the two-mouthed, three-eyed Chinese piglet.
Born in Huimen village, Menla County, China, the piglet was unable to take milk from its mother, forcing farmer Yang Qiaofen to feed it using the mouths it had on either side of its head.
As well as the extra mandibular equipment, the puzzling porcine was blessed with an extra eye in the middle of its forehead, earning it the nickname "Cyclops".
The seventh of seven in its litter, young Cyclops was the only abnormal birth.
While it is able to feed - "both mouths can drink at the same time," noted a surprised Yang, who is feeding it on powdered milk - it is unable to stand properly.

The article is OK - but check out the Onion news special election banner on top of the page - it made me laugh....
As long as Tim has popcorn capacity in the theater, I'm totally in.
My verdict on jury duty in Queens: Boring. So far. There's no video with famous people like there is in Manhattan, they just give you a pamphlet. So far I'm in voir dire, and they've picked three jurors. I'm hoping I don't end up on the jury, since they're talking about a two-week trial, and I have shit to do! But we'll see. Of course I'm all about fulfilling my civic duty.
If I do end up on the jury, I think I'm going to have to buy some kind of portable internet device, because I almost started having DTs today.
Oooh, oooh, what kind of case? Also, where are you in Queens and who is the judge?
