Doesn't compare well?
Nope. I was hoping for more "here's how manmade stuff decays" too, in hopes of showing it to my architecture class, but no. Lots of it was sentences like, "But man's defeat of the environment is tenuous" and "Nature reasserts its hold." One thing I really liked about the book is how he goes into detail about how things work right now and how they'll fail, and it kind of skipped that stuff. Not entirely -- they did show some detail on corrosion of stone and metal, but not as much as I'd like.
Aargh! I am having a horrid day at work, after a rather horrid day working at the theatre yesterday. And I am being all cranky and mean and hostile to people, which I hate doing. And I just want a large, large drink.

Emily, are you aware of the Urban decay and rural ruin communities on LJ? They often show modern building ruins in various states of being reclaimed by nature.
