I very selfishly hope that this does not hinder my academic career in any way--though, my thesis adviser now knows about the situation and supports my actions.
Speaking as someone in an academic career, I doubt it. When you get to the point of interviews, and if this is going to be an issue somehow, we'll be here to help you spin it. I'll ask one of my co-workers to snap a pic while it is still bright. A programmer here said, "not many people can pull off that color, but it looks great on you." That's as many words as he normally speaks in a week!
Emily, how are you feeling?
Pretty good, really. Nagging cough still hanging on -- it's kind of wrecked my sleep the last two nights, and for some reason I think one of my ovaries hurts every time I cough, but otherwise I'm feeling much, much better.
If only I could figure out what to do with this one class...
