Oh, God. Oh, God. My hair. My hair! The government gave me bad hair!

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I threw in Monsieur Verdoux because I just saw it and really liked it. Charlie Chaplin in a comedy about a Bluebeard. Truly weird and truly wonderful.

Gender and Sexuality: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Crime and Deviance: Dressed to Kill (De Palma) [this could fit under gender and sexuality as well]

Technology and Society: Sliver, Cloverfield

Religion: Wide Awake

Social Stratification: Gattaca, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride

Also, Strega mentioned Cronenberg's Crash, which could fit under Technology and Society in addition to Gender and Sexuality.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

The Ruling Class - Peter O'Toole: Social Strata and possibly gender - a quirky choice for one of your classics.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Someone said Heathers, right?

Yeah, I skimmed. Possibly skipped. Wanna make something out of nothing? I means--it's patently impossible with the differing number of letters.

And also, the drugs talking. Way too much effort to search.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I think I saw Heathers on the list.

Loved this. Definitely James MacAvoy's My Left Foot but/and the performances were great.

I'm impressed by y'all's suggestions and have been updating my netflix queue all day.

Also, Strega mentioned Cronenberg's Crash, which could fit under Technology and Society in addition to Gender and Sexuality.

And also Crime and Deviance!

I was just thinking, Robocop has a fair amount of Media stuff, too. Ideally you can come up with a dozen movies that you just repeat in different combinations to fill all of the categories.

...or is annoying people not the goal?

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Gender and Sexuality: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

How did I not think of this immediately?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I just saw my first Watchmen promo that I had not gone looking for. The bloody smiley popped up in an ad window while I was watching a youtube clip and I got all tingly. It's a contest!
