Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Sorbet and a kitten?

You're thinking outside the box! Now I feel all synergetic. We should make a crappy Hollywood adaptation of a halfway decent comic book!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Unbreakable and Donnie Darko are my favorite comic book movies that aren't technically based on comic books.

Oh, in that category I'd add Darkman.

I always forget that The Crow and Men In Black were from comics.

And then there's 300, which was made by aliens as some kind of psychological experiment. Rating it is like trying to determine how many stars to give a mugging.

I gotta say, seeing that with the MST guys razzing it made it actually worth watching a second time. That and the Vogue vid someone did of it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oh, in that category I'd add Darkman.

Me too! (And I'd remove Unbreakable and Donnie Darko because I hated them both a lot.)

We should make a crappy Hollywood adaptation of a halfway decent comic book!

Now THAT's the kind of proactive thinking this organization needs!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Oh, in that category I'd add Darkman.

Good catch! I don't like it quite as much as the others, but I'd probably put it in the MIB "good fun" category.

MiSTing would definitely make 300 better. Honestly, I didn't even dislike 300. Or like it. It was... a thing that happened to me.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

300 was surprisingly boring. But it was pretty cool-looking, especially when there was fighting and shit.
