Hey, you know what's 21st century?
I always wanted to see the notorious
Flaming Creatures
by Jack Smith (important early 60s avant garde film that inspired lots of people including John Waters).
It's not out on tape, but Ubuweb's huge library of experimental film has it so I can just go and watch it. While I'm sitting in this cafe.
Was this yonks ago? 'Cause I saw it there when they had the reissue.
Yup. That was it. But so memorable, it could have been last week.
I couldn't finish Dr. Strangelove.
Those may almost be fighting words. Almost. Luckily, this is the war room.
Whoa. I love the voice of one of those actors. Samples on the site. And how odd to imdb someone and find only 1 entry. Huh.
Anyone seen
Southland Tale
? Opinions?
I guess we can finally pry the gun from his hand.
Wow, I am *so* going to Hell.
Right there with you, Sean.
Juliebird - I saw the first 30 minutes... But then lost the will to live. Well, finish it. It's not that there was bad acting or anything, I just wasn't sure why I was supposed to care about anybody or anything in the movie.
I finished it, Kevin, just because it was so whacked, and it was maybe an hour in before I found someone to care about, and it was only near the end that things became a little more clear, and
way
more WTF?! I think what kept me going is that Sean William Scott's two characters became slightly more intriguing, and so did Justin Timerblake's.
There was definitely way too much "look, we're poking fun at conservatives and liberals and todays hot topics like the war on terror and the Patriot Act and alternative fuels" and about a billion other issues.
I guess I was in the right mood, though, cuz I never thought of turning it off, and I think I liked it, but I really have no clue, because I still have no idea what the fuck I just watched.
