There was just waaaay too much in DH for them to reduce it all down to one film. This way, they can leave in all of (whitefont for non-HP-book readers) the Horcrux hunt, the illfated trip to Godric's Hollow (which I think would have disappeared in a one-movie adaptation), and even the wedding in the beginning, which I still think is going to be Lupin/Tonks, not Bill/Fleur.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Sweet! I'm in no hurry for it to be over.
And that means that the block down the street will be doing a Harry Potter theme for Halloween for that much longer!
I agree with that, Kathy. OOH! Maybe I'll be pregnant when it comes out and I can go to opening night as pregnant Tonks!!
Does MM know about this plan, Aims?
Er....sure!
FTR, they're planning to release DH I in Nov 2010, and DH II in May 2011
Two years between 6 and 7.1? Oh, well, if they have to film two movies for 7, it makes sense to space it out some.
I ... couldn't finish the book.
Really? I loved it. I also thought that the movie was wonderful independent of the book. I have nothing beyond that.
Cool on the HP.
I recommended Days of Heaven to a colleague last week, and he just dropped in to tell me he watched it last night, and now it's his favorite movie ever. He said he kept forgetting that it wasn't archival footage from the turn of the last century. He also said that Terry Malick plays basketball every Thursday at a court not too far from his house, and he's considering taking up stalking the man. I could think of worse ways to spend your time.
What a pleasure to be able to see Days of Heaven for the first time! I still remember walking out of the theater in a daze of cinematic bliss after my first viewing in college.
