Amy, you must see Juno. Of course I haven't seen Cloverfield, but I loved loved loved Juno.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I just watched Dead Birds. It's one of those movies I can't recall why I put it on Netflix even after I've watched it. It reminded me of a teaser for an episode of Supernatural but with worse special effects. It was nice to see Patrick Fugit stretch his chops but Isaiah Washington was in it too and I don't think he's a good enough actor to distract me from his off-screen personality. I give it a thumbs down unless you're really into civil war era supernatural horror.
I bought the hamburger phone from Juno. I don't even have a phone line.
I loved Juno. No plans to see Cloverfield because I have inner ear issues and don't want to puke.
I'm watching Becoming Jane at the moment and LOVELOVELOVE James McEvoy. Makes me want to see Atonement as well.
Anne Hathaway is very competent in this film. It's really a cute movie with decent production values. More realistic than most film productions of Austen novels and I love the emotional conflict.
McAvoy's chemistry with Anne Hathaway is just about the only thing that kept me watching. i think i remember it fondly only because of that. he's seriously amazing.
have you seen the previews for his new movie with Christina Ricci, Penelope?

No, but I'm intrigued.
I'm a big Austen fan so I'll watch about anything (even the Keira Knightly P&P). I'm loving James Cromwell as Rev. Austen and I love Julie Walters as Mrs. Austen (but she has my eternal love as Mrs. Weasley).
to be honest, the movie looks a bit ridiculous, but James always pulls off leading man exceptionally well.
here's the trailer. [link]
And a seemingly all around decent guy. Love everything about him.
yeah, there was an interview with he and Keira and he was saying how he's not on the same level as she is because people don't cross streets to have their picture taken with him or to get autographs. i'm thinking he just hasn't been in the right places. i would cross a lot of streets to meet him.
