Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

We thought it was just the invitations and laughed for a long time about how we didn't realize that side of the family were the sort of people who would choose Precious Moments invites. I missed the big event (yay for school!) but apparently everything was pastel pink and blue and there were naked babies kissing on top of the cake.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My neighbor worked on it, but I haven't seen it. She said Jack Black was surprisingly wonderful to work with.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

A friend of ours did editing on it and a lot of the swedeing viral campaign. He loves it.

It's the most Buffista-adjacent movie ever!

move out and draw fire

One of my best friends is going to see both No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood tonight. Should I prepare for an emergency call?

I watched the first hour of La Vie en Rose last night, before I fell asleep. I fell asleep because it was late, not because the movie was boring.

I was absolutely entranced. It's beautifully shot, and Marion Cotillard is fantastic. Plus, you get to listen to Edith Piaf songs through the whole movie. S says the movie gets much sadder in the last hour.

There Will Be Blood mostly just left me confused. It was beautifully shot, with great acting, but I just didn't get it.

Have you seen what she looks like IRL? The transformation is amazing.

Devasting. I didn't really know Piaf's story and it's just heart-breaking to watch.
