Saffron: But we've been wed. Aren't we to become one flesh? Mal: Well, no, uh... We're still two fleshes here, and I think that your flesh ought to sleep somewhere else.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's the most Buffista-adjacent movie ever!

move out and draw fire

One of my best friends is going to see both No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood tonight. Should I prepare for an emergency call?

I watched the first hour of La Vie en Rose last night, before I fell asleep. I fell asleep because it was late, not because the movie was boring.

I was absolutely entranced. It's beautifully shot, and Marion Cotillard is fantastic. Plus, you get to listen to Edith Piaf songs through the whole movie. S says the movie gets much sadder in the last hour.

There Will Be Blood mostly just left me confused. It was beautifully shot, with great acting, but I just didn't get it.

Have you seen what she looks like IRL? The transformation is amazing.

Devasting. I didn't really know Piaf's story and it's just heart-breaking to watch.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Watched 2001: A Space Odyssey again last night.

I was still enthralled between bouts of "Oh, for fuck's sake, Kubrick! Would you go back to telling the story?! Please?!"

I mean, I know it was the whip shit for 1968 and he was all impressed with his own devotion to "how it would really be" and holding to Clarke's science and all, but...JESUS! Yes, the shuttle has zero g, yes the stewardess can walk on the ceiling, yes you built a special rotating set and whatever JESUS FUCK JUST GET ON WITH IT!!

Aimee didn't watch it. She thought it was boring as hell.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Would you go back to telling the story?!

2001 has a story?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

We're going to be watching Sunshine tonight. Should I go back and re-read everyone's comments now, to be prepared?

2001 has a story?

Yes. It's about a pony. And a magical train. And how super-intelligent aliens from beyond space and time helped humanity to evolve and what they may have in store for us.

And Christmas.
