I just saw Meet the Spartans, and can pronounce it utterly devoid of entertainment value for straight guys.
I got the feeling (from experience) that for this crowd, seeing 300 with the right MST-ing group was much more hilarious. Every preview I saw made me wonder how it could be possibly funnier than the original (intent of which or no).
Yeah, the original provided much funnier opportunities to peek inside Miller's head and make fun of him. Plus, y'know, it gave us It's Raining Men and Vogue.
Oh dear. I haven't seen the It's Raining Men one. I'll have to check that out later, but I can see that as even funnier than Vogue (which totally made me lose it).

Saw Sweeny Todd. Liked it a lot but am still washing the blood out of everything. More later.
Oh, one question for those who know the original - does it leave Anthony and Joanne high and dry like this does? I mean, we know they both survive, but that's about it. I could TOTALLY see Sondheim doing that, but I thought I'd ask. And I do know their's were the songs that got seriously cut, from other comments I read.
IIRC, we get a bit more for them. Not a hugely lot more: the ending's not about them in the stage version, either, but a bit more.
At the end of the stage show,
Anthony and Joanna rush into the bakehouse with the police that Joanna's gone to get. They find Toby crouching over Todd's body.
Just in from There Will Be Blood tonight. Man, that was fucked up. I'm a little overwhelmed for deeper reading at present.
I just watched
Sky High.
I don't think it did well at the box office or became very popular, but it's a lot of fun! Very enjoyable, and it pretty much delivers what it promises. Plus, a cute redhead.
I've a great fondness for
Sky High
because it pushes all my teenage superhero buttons. Also, I can't resist a heroic were-guinea pig.
