See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Does God hate a lot? I mean, in his own words did he say he hated people?

Old Testament God may have, here and there, in Leviticus or one of the other extra-rulesy sections. New Testament God, not so much, except maybe the part where Jesus gets pissed off at people turning a temple courtyard into an open-air mall, and the parable where he gets pissed off at people who don't care for the poor and sick and clothe the homeless and visit people in prison and then end up in hell and whine about how unfair it is, how they would've been nicer if they'd known they were supposed to be nice to, you know, those kinds of people too.

Pulling "God hates fags" and "God wants us to picket soldiers' and GLBT or GLBT-friendly actors' funerals and mock the mourners" out of that requires a metric fuckload of handwavium, but Fred Phelps is just gifted that way.

If the funeral is in Australia, they might not be able to picket since there are more restrictions on free speech. I'm not sure the Aussies would consider it political speech.

Punishingly Intricate

do these fools picket every actor who has played a GLBT role?

They picket any high-profile funeral. They picketed one here of 5 family members (mother and 4 children including an 8-week old baby) killed in a car accident.

it's just so revolting

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The real question is though, while they're picketing Ledger's funeral, will they also picket Jake Gyllenhaal's...

I'm hoping they'll have all passed into irrelevant history and been forgotten by the time Jake kicks it.

Have they tried to picket such a high-profile person's funeral yet? No disrespect meant to military members AT ALL, but Heath Fucking Ledger is pretty high profile. I just can't imagine that, even if there is going to be a service in the US, those fuckstains would be allowed anywhere near it.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Won't his funeral be in Australia? Are they going to fly down there for it?

This is what I was wondering. Can they all be on the same plane? And can it crash safely over the ocean so they are floating around getting eaten by sharks? Or possibly end up in field of those nasty jellyfish billytea has mentioned are in Australia? Or both?

I think he only hates Fred Phelps.

No, dang it, I do truly believe that God even loves that waste of DNA, and that burns me up. Which is why I'm not God. (I don't think. Wait. t checks Nope. Not God.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Which is why I'm not God. (I don't think. Wait. <checks> Nope. Not God.)

What exactly did you check?

Well, like most of the reactionary buttholes, they take their Bible quotes so unbelievably out of context that it's not even relevant any more.

Leviticus 18:22 is, I suppose, condemning homosexuality, but the whole point of Jesus showing up was to give people a new set of laws, and to tell them not to worry about Leviticus so much.

But (having just reread it) that quote from Ephesians they use on their flier? It's taken completely out of context. Nothing in that chapter of Ephesians has anything at all to do with condemning homosexuality. In fact, Ephesians 5 is the same place that the "Be subject to one another" quote comes from. That whole chapter of Ephesians is about being loving and good to one another. Frankly, this behavior of picketing funerals and hating people is so anti-Ephesians it's not even funny.

Actually, they don't even quote Ephesians 5:6 correctly. On the flier, they only quote "For it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience," but they leave off the first part of the passage! Ephesians 5:6 in its entirety reads: "Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience."

These people are incapable of correctly understanding their Bible.
