I never understand what exactly the different ways of writing a word mean when there's a pronunciation discussion, which makes it all a very strange stream of posts to follow, all looking like they're almost saying the same, when they actually don't, and that slight difference is the heart of it all, but I can't tell what it is. I need a little microphone to the hivemind's mouth (does it have a mouth?).

Cutlery at least reads differently, even though upon catching up on a few dozens of posts, I can't make up my mind what I used to do in general before starting to read the discussion.

This picture (work-safe) made me laugh and laugh: hello, parking karma

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The "ahnt" pronunciation is with the ah sound that exists in Hebrew. The same ah sound as "father" (or "abba," for that matter.) The "ant" pronunciation is with the one that doesn't, like the same sound as "hand."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG HOT. I don't know if I have a sweatier face than the average person or what, but I don't understand how people keep makeup on in the summer. I would be SOOL.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And Zeljko Ivanek has apparently aged about two decades since I last saw him on The Inside.

He's always looked kind of cadaverous.

After the Federer/Nadal match yesterday, I was glad Federer won (since there were a couple of times I was pretty sure he wouldn't), but I must declare Nadal officially ADORABLE.

Mineral powder foundation (i.e., Bare Escentuals, Aromaleigh, et al.) stays on even when you sweat. For reals.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I find Federer extremely adorable, especially when he cries when he wins--at times you can't tell the winner from the loser because of it.

Nadal really grew on me.

Did anyone see the women's final? How was it?

Thanks, Hil! That's a start.

Speaking of starts - the public channel here starts re-running "The Muppet Show" today! My beloved Kermit!

The first (and pretty much only) time I watched the show, I was in the very early single-digits ages, couldn't understand a word of the English, of course, was way too young to read the Hebrew subtitles, and obviously had all the cultural references flying so high over my head I had no idea there was anything there. I *loved* the show, regardless of all that.

It was probably my very first TV love, and it was deep and everlasting. I have a picture my mom took of the two-or-three-years-old me sitting and watching the show, with the biggest smile on not just my face, but the all of me (and she stopped everything, housework and all, with a baby on top, to take that picture, because I was just so mesmerized).

I'm thrilled by the opportunity to see all those crazy characters and their mayhem and their puns and their Kermit again. I have no idea if this love of mine will hold, after all these years, and I'm sure that most of the cultural references will *still* fly all the way over my head (not that I'm that much taller than I used to be). But I'm also sure I won't be able to *not* enjoy myself. I mean, come on, Kermit!

So tonight I'm going to be three years old again in front of the TV, and have my roommates mock me mercilessly, and have a great time.

Art Crawl!!!

It was good!

It was an entire weekend of pretty tennis.

You know Marion Bartoli is one of those mysterious people who you know have to be much, much more fit than the average person and yet, some how manage to look pudgy. What is up with that?
