I kissed him, and I told him that I loved him. And I killed him.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I worry about wankery hitting the board, too, and how to deal with that.

We should close the borders. End registration or make reading threads dependent on registration or something like that.

(Making this suggestion because I am sure it will be shouted down, but it's out there.)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Oh, dol, while I suspect that Kristin is right about being found, I hate to see you worrying about the wank on our behalf. You wrote what you did out of the Big Big Love for this world, and the book wouldn't be any good if you hadn't; in return, if anyone brings the bad, I feel pretty safe in saying the whole place has got your back. And we can survive it just fine. And so can you, since I'm pretty sure there's a lot of "got your back" out there for personal wankery as well.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We'll be OK, boo. And so will you.

And then I worry about you guys, too.

I know it's not much use to say that you shouldn't worry about us, because I'm pretty sure you will anyway. But we're all adults here, and I for one plan to have on my big girl pants at the board when your book hits the stores.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

End registration or make reading threads dependent on registration or something like that.

I wouldn't be adverse to limiting registration and making thread-viewing dependent upon registration for a short, set period of time post-book release. Didn't we do something like that before?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

What amych said stands for my thoughts on the matter. I'm just wondering how you want to be addressed for the duration (paperdol, dol, ???).

And looking forward to reading your book.

And then I worry about you guys, too.

That's really kinda sweet, paperdol. But what Jesse said

I think that we'll all go with what makes you comfortable, and keeps you contributing to the board.

I am wondering now if the board shouldn't have a thread on the main page with your book title to try and channel the fans of the book. Those who want to join the board in full will find the Natter, etc.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

A lot of people use a pseud to put up a barrier between work and internet. It seems a reasonable thing to do.

Anyone who went to the trouble could find out. If they acted like an ass hat on the board the board has means of dealing with it.

Did we actually do it? I can't remember. I think we decided that registering wasn't that much of a barrier.

At any rate, the amount of wankery following even Joss posting here has always been pretty minor, so I don't think random people will be a problem.

Punishingly Intricate

I worry about wankery hitting the board, too, and how to deal with that.

Fortunately there are pretty good systems in place here to deal with wankery.

As for the rest, well...it's a big event for you. And those should be kind of scary. I'm sure as the weeks go along and you will get used to the book being out there and getting used to whatever responses it generates and learn how to deal with those responses as they come up. It's a strange situation because the book--unlike a novel, say--does invite the reader into your real life and the lives of your friends (as you've portrayed them in the book) and to make judgements about them. But that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing or a thing that means you have to radically change the way you live your life online.

ION, because I know there are some Warren Ellis fans, he posted a picture of my friend reading his book on his blog today!
