Now tagless for your comfort.

I covet the Tater Mitts. I'm a sucker for As Seen on TV products.

Creepy. Benoit's Wikipedia page was updated about his wife's death hours before authorities discovered the bodies.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I love Emperor Norton. I think about him every time I go past the Federal Reserve, which is every work day.

From DJ's article: 'And, surprisingly enough, the general public’s reaction was apparently “Cool. We have our own emperor.”'

Which is a good summation of the City's attitude in general.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Do you have a microplaner?

Yes. Those are things of miracle. Not that I'd use one to peel a tomato, but still--very nice.

The part of piemaking that I most dislike is the apple peeling and coring. I have a new corer doohickey that needs to be tried, but I balk at those skins.

My mom has a peeler, corer and spiral-cutter. Doesn't use it much but chortles with glee when she does. Her mom had a similar device on the farm.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

FYI, my secret to apple pies is I never bother to core the apples. (I do peel them.) I was talking to a caterer, who does this for a living, and she was like, "Why do the apple slices have to be all neat, and shit? Just peel that apple and cut chunks off it till you get to the core, and throw the core away."

Less work, less agita, no need for a cutting board, and anyway it looks basically the same in the pie pan. And tastes the same.

(I don't think you can get out of peeling the apples.)

I was promised thunderstorms. Nice violent ones.

Where the fuck are my thunderstorms?

meara - Jun 28, 2007 5:06:42 pm PDT #5354 of 10001

Sara, I had violent thunderstorms maybe 45 minutes ago....perhaps they're on their way?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

today mac: saw the beach for the first time, ran from the ocean (it is, you know, scary), decided standing in shallow ocean tide was ok, discovered playing in really wet sand is fun, rode amusement rides for the first time, worried about people laughing at him in a sleeveless shirt but later went out in pajamas and one of my scraves tied around his neck as a cape, AND met his first non-friend or family babysitter (first babysit date is in 2 weeks!).

tomorrow - first swimming pool, and hopefully a bike rental with training wheels.
