Good news on the extinction front. I think I also read that the bald eagle is no longer endangered.
Lunch is free today to make up for having a 12-1:30 meeting. Well, to start making up for it.
I crave fruit in the worst way. I'm hoping they have the standard crap fruit salad so I can binge.
Got my first Cook's Illustrated test recipe! I'm very excited. It's nice and simple, too, and chicken, so I may have a go this weekend.
Happy Birthday Hec!!
You should go out for a birthday lunch or something!

Super excellent plan. I'm treating myself today with Megan's company.
I'm kind of lax about refering to people by Mr/Ms Last Name when they give me their full name. I'm trying to start doing that. Most of the people I do business with just use their first name.
I have semi regular email exchanges with someone who works on the property but not employeed by our business he always addresses me by last name in the emails, but with out any Miss or Ms. Which drives me nuts! I just want him to refer to me by first name. I think it's an ex military guy thing because the ex military guys around here do that quite a bit.
Dear Microsoft Word:
Fuck you and your stupid not responding message. I guess saving 2 new lines of actual new text was just a little too hard!
Jesus, I'm twitchy. I've been this way all week and it is tiresome. It doesn't help that people and stupidass software are being emminently slap-worthy.
And now they want to upgrade my OS. Wait until next week PLEASE. I've got to get through the end of the month stuff before I deal with stupid computer tricks.
IF Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V DON'T START WORKING I MAY KILL SOMEONE.
Ahrg.
I'm waiting for the hot weather to break. Any time now would be fine, thanks.

Are you using some sort of remote access software, like Citrix? That's what I hate most about Citrix - sometimes the Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V work, sometimes they don't.
So someone in the Huffington Post linked to this article on 11 things you can do when you're feeling a bout of depression. Turns out the article in in beliefnet. So I decided to read the article anyway - this is number five:
Distract yourself
Any addict would benefit from a long list of "distractions," activities than can take her mind off of a cig, a glass of Merlot, or a suicidal plot (during a severe depression). Some good ones: crossword puzzles, novels, Sudoku, e-mails, reading Beyond Blue (a must!); walking the dog (pets are wonderful "buddies" and can improve mental health), card games, movies, "American Idol" (as long as you don't make fun of the contestants...bad for your depression, as it attracts bad karma); sports, de-cluttering the house (cleaning out a drawer, a file, or the garage...or just stuffing it with more stuff); crafts; gardening (even pulling weeds, which you can visualize as the marketing director that you hate working with); exercise; nature (just sitting by the water); and music (even Yanni works, but I'd go classical).
So we need to worry about karma when dealing with depression? Fuck that. I say, if you're depressed and making fun of American Idol contestants makes you feel better - go for it.
