It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

Serious question, though it may not be settled by the time I leave--I have Remember Me set, and I'm at the library's computer. Granted, the odds of someone sitting down here and coming into b.org are small, but from such odds are great paranoias built. Is there a log-out option?

Connie-- are you Hello Kitty?

blink, blink Oh! Euw, you're right, the Hello Kitty has no mouth. I knew it gave me the creeps. And, no, I'm not.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is there a log-out option?

Yes, top left, right under 'Welcome, connie neil'

Thanks, ita!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Here's a neat thing for people here who use Mozilla. The latest version (1.4) fixes the bit where it erased the stuff in the posting box when you moved to another page without posting. That means that you can go back a page to grab some text while mearaing without losing the rest of the post, or you can go back and get it if it doesn't post for some reason.

Opera 6 and 7 were fine with that too.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Nice catch, DX. I've upgraded here at work already.

Disaffected college student

I'll be getting 1.4 shortly. I just hope it doesn't act like the release candidates and screw up the layout whenever I have a couple dozen tabs open.

Re: Kristen's post in Press:

Regarding today's hour-long server outage:

The problem was caused by another user who was overloading the server. The problem has been fixed and that user has been warned.

How does a user overload the server, and how can we avoid making the same mistake as that user?

Any number of ways. You could write a poorly conceived script that gets caught in an endless loop, draining more resources every time it restarts. You could upload high-quality NSYNC MPEGS and then give the URL to the JJB. There's a lot you could do that I can't think of right now. Those are just two examples.

So far, there hasn't been anything to worry about for you guys. My only two concerns are a) when search goes live and b) if Joss starts showing up again in the fall. But, in both those cases, we won't know if it's really an issue until it happens and if it is an issue, we'll figure something out.
