I don't think that's all necessarily linking, is it? It's just the last page someone was on before they came here.
It's linking -- if you just do Ctrl+O and type in the URL, it doesn't list as a referrer.
The Guardian - may have been their boards.

Doesn't work that way in IE. If it does for other browsers, that's a violation of W3 specs.
