Thanks! Some lovely stories there, though I haven't read all of them yet. For Stargate, I like gen character stuff, not too angsty. A good plot is cool, but it's mainly the characters. I'm an absolute sucker for anything which combines 'normal' people with the SGC, but I haven't found much of that.

Fan Fiction: Writers, Readers, and Enablers
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
Anyone around? I pretty much need a quick and dirty beta. (xposted with bfic)
SA, do you still need the beta? I can give it a shot if you like. Profile addy is good.
So, yeah.
Latitude has once again been updated. There's, like, new shit, and shit.
Anyone have any good, non-pairing specific essays on writing relationships they'd like to submit?
Insent, Deena. Thanks.
Thanks!
You're welcome! Though looking back I note that I made a mistake; "Willing" is slash. Arguably. (Of course, I can think of stories that include explicit gay sex that my internal sorter thinks of as gen, so you can't really trust me...)

Yeah, that isn't something that I've seen done very much. The closest thing I can think of is actually "Lovely," but I'm not sure if you want to count a Sentinel as Normal People. I wonder if that's partly because the show itself hasn't gone there very much.
Ooh, here's a rec for you, though - Gavilan. Non-SGC POV on a test flight with Teal'c.
Yeah, I read that one. It's pretty cool. What do you like in Stargate fanfic?
I mostly read either plotty gen or J/D, but beyond that... I went through enough of a read-all-the-crap phase that I'm at a point where I attach to the best writing I can find. I like strong POV a lot of the time, just because when it's done well you can get such an amazing character voice out of it, where it infuses the whole thing rather than being confined to the dialogue. I find Daniel the most interesting of the lot of them, but it's tricky to find conceptions of him that I agree with. I adore good character pieces focusing on him or him and one of his teammates, but Poor Danny I do not need to cope with.
Gavilan was a really great story, a great original character and a good Teal'c story. I like Teal'c. I haven't read much Stargate but I made the mistake of looking around that one awards site and ending up in a really really bad and strange Teal'c/Daniel story.
