So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

That one Cindy mentioned.

Please excuse the chapter titles. They're more for me than anything else, so that I know which playlist to listen to for which section when I'm working.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I've just been cleaning out my bookmarks in preparation for the Big File Transfer that will hopefully follow setting up my new computer tonight, and found this:

Stupid Plot Tricks

The Random Plot Generator particularly cracks me up. All credit to Joss Whedon, several cliches have come by that he's undercut at one point or another.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Thanks, Plei. Reading now.

edit: Read. Liked muchly. Does it end abruptly or was there a problem with the page?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I know TNH, who cracks me up every rare time I see her. She speaketh much wisdom.

Still a WIP, so there's no end yet.

Or, you know, there's an end started, but that whole section is a bit down the road, and therefore isn't up yet, because I've yet to write the in-between scenes.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Cool. I now how that goes, with the needing to put pieces together.

brillig

OK, how's this for pathetically fangirl? I'm having another wave of attempted virus hits as that damned bug bounces off mentions of my email addresses on other people's computers. Tonight I got one from Jennifer Oksana's computer, and my first reaction was "Oh my god! Jennifer Oksana has a file somewhere on her system that has a mention of my address! Her computer knows I exist!"

This is sad. I still dumped the bugger, though.

In a fit of MADNESS, and perhaps insomnia, I have updated Recalibration (and redesigned it, kinda--now with images! a whopping 6k of 'em! totally not fandom related!) and Latitude. Buttery will be updated soon-ish, but I'm going to bed before I break something with poor coding. Or worse.

Does anyone know of any good Stargate gen, other than Rheanna's stories?

What's your taste, helen? I'm personally very fond of Tripoli's stuff, but want to issue a warning that The Cost of Doing Business is a bit harrowing. Destina's recommendations lean heavily slashward, but there is some good gen in there as well; come to think of it I believe Tripoli has a rec page also. Yeah, here it is.

Now that I look at Destina's page she's not labeling all the gen anymore. Note that Lovely and Willing (both of which I like a lot) are gen. The author of Willing has another one out, called Surface Tension, which I'd also recommend.

Bright Shiny Objects does Stargate recs as well, though a lot of them are ship rather than gen.

Also, one of the two posts in my lj is a look at the gen nominees from this year's SG-1 fanfic awards. Rather astonishing amounts of crap (which I did not write about, because it felt mean, though you will note a few that I damned with faint praise) but I think I mention a few others there that aren't on the rec lists above. The award site itself, which has links to all of these stories, is here.
