I'll grade them - I haven't graded essays in YEARS. Which reminds me of how old I felt this week. I was chatting with a co-worker that I've known for a couple years, we used to work on the same project. He's the same age as the kids I taught high school! I could be hanging out with former students! Weird.
And Kristin, you are a big old sweetie-head! Sorry I wasn't around, but the DH had to get a paper done for his masters program that was due yesterday, so I had to be elsewhere.
Do we know anything about this eBay seller? [link] Their stuff seems really inexpensive.
Also, should it surprise me that my Dressed to Kill and Full Monty DVDs are stuck together?

More {{{{Trudy}}}}, just cause.
Poor ChiKat, being worked to death!
Kristin, did you get your essays graded?
I need to be being productive, but I just don't feel like it. I was so productive yesterday; it feels like I should get a break. Unfortunately, that's not how it works.

Many hugs to Trudy.
I already said this elsewhere, but Olivia is such a cutie. We went to a party last night where there were two babies - 2 and 3 months old. They were both boys, but they were still tiny. I had forgotten how small a new baby is.

Why do I wait and decide things at the last minute? I decided to apply for this scholarship to Oxford. The submissions are due next Monday. I've e-mailed three professors, asking for letters of recommendations. I've only heard back from one. And the other two would be the stronger recommendations. So, I'm a little frustrated. One of the profs is on sabatical this semester and is only checking his e-mail every couple of weeks. The other usually gets back right away, so I'm surprised. Maybe something is up with his family or something.
So, I've e-mailed a backup professor, but I don't know who else to get to write a third recommendation. I could ask my former boss, but I'm not sure that's the strongest... I'm stuck.

Is there a departmental secretary you could call, who might be able to give him a head's up about your email?

Hee! That would be the same woman collecting the submissions.

vw, when I was waiting for my academic references, I had to call
and
visit one of them about six times. Eventually the secretary where I was applying just phoned him for a verbal reference. Lesson: the secretary where you're applying has to deal with academics and their whimsical approach to paperwork too.

Actually, I'll go further than that: IME, a good department secretary is the only person on earth who can manage a certain breed of academic, and is thus a certifiable genius.

I have three exams next week. How did that happen??
