The more I see Tool in concert, the more convinced I become that Danny Carey is one of the best drummers who ever lived.

Sean, did you know he Danny Carey is a born and bred Kansan (born in Lawrence actually)? There is a lot of hometown pride for him.

Tina hasn't gotten home yet, but I've been awake since 5am EDT, so I may be asleep when she shows up.

Sadly, I didn't get to see a lot of Jon while he was here. I think my cats got a lot more of his company than I did actually.... But still - I am super happy I got to facilitate so much rock music watching, host a buffista and meet the man himself. And he got me an *awesome* poster from the Touch and Go reunion since I could not make it.

My friend S swears by it, brenda. He says the sampler CD is always worth listening to, and the reviews are plentiful and well written.

My favorite suicide song as an angsty teen was "Sing Me to Sleep" by the Smiths. Now I think it's a little over-the-top, but I still love it.

In sad sad sad news (well, for me anyway) this will be the first year in five that I have not made it to Winfield. I held out hope for a while but it's just not going to happen. Money, job, travel arrangement crap - everything that could go wrong did. I am bummed beyond words but resolved to go for the full week next year.

Also - has anybody had time to play with iTunes 7 yet? I am LOVING the gapless playback. Oh, precious Elliott Smith bootlegs, oh dear sweet Led Zep live album, you finally sound right! The new artwork scrolling features are cool - but I doubt I'll use them. They seem best suited to listen to music by album and, thanks to iTunes, I listen to playlists almost exclusively now. I don't like the new side menu look (especially the all cap font of the main headings) but Apple always uses clunky typefaces on its first go-around with a new interface.

I am crazy OCD about uploading artwork when I import music, but it's nice to know iTunes will do it for me (as long as you import from CD). For a second I was afraid it would wipe out my self-added artwork but it didn't touch any of it.

So far - nothing awful and some really needed improvements.

Oh, Brenda, sorry I didn't see this earlier. Paste is a must-buy magazine for me. I read a fair number of music mags, and Paste is still my favorite. It's interesting, current, and accurate, and suits my musical taste almost perfectly. The last one might not have bearing on you. *g* But I would buy a subscription if I could afford it and had a permanent address.

Glad to hear you like the new interface, Tina. I was holding out until I heard some positive feedback.

We've been sharing the iTunes 7 love in Buffistatech. Gapless playback has garnered the most rejoicing. I haven't used the new interface much yet, but I love the screen that comes up when you attach an iPod....
