You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I dont' think either of those is quite right. What are those teething cookies you can buy?

Ooh, good point, Hil. If it's the latter, then I'd say graham crackers.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know -- when wee fists of rage get going ...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Rusks? Those don't taste like digestives either. I find digestives sufficiently nasty to never eat them without chocolate, but sufficiently tasty with the chocolate to seek them out. They're like sawdust with potential for greatness, freed by the magic of tea and chocolate coating.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

What are those teething cookies you can buy?

Melba toast?

what's the American equivalent of Digestive biscuits?

Graham crackers are close, as are arrowroot biscuits. Neither are as *tasty* as Digestive biscuits. Now I want a couple of chocolate Digestives ...

What's the closest in taste and texture, is what I'm looking for, really. What do you dip in tea? Or make cheesecake bases out of? Can you actually get Digestives over there?

In the right stores, yes. One of the local upscale-ish grocery stores has an aisle of "British" foods (right next to the aisles of "Indian", "Asian", and "Mexican", complete with quotes around the words on the signs).
