Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Town where I grew up is 88% white. 25% with Irish ancestry, 24% Italian. Pretty overwhelmingly houses built either in the '50s or before 1939. 24.3% of age 25 and higher have a graduate or professional degree, which is much higher than I would have guessed.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Mine's 45% white.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

LA is 29.7% non-Hispanic white. Not that that has anything to do with my neighbourhood, but still.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

My town lists a population of 72,422, with 72,419 living in "urban" and 3 living in "rural". Who are the 3 people living in Rural Mira Mesa? Where the heck is Rural Mira Mesa? The canyons?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

LA:

654 murders (17.1 per 100,000)

1,415 rapes (36.9 per 100,000)

No one tell my mom, k?

Huh. Crime index 41.8 for where I grew up. Neat.

Also, their temperature things seem a bit screwy. At least, it sure seems like the average high for July ought to be higher than 85. Maybe it's just that a few 100+ degree days crowd out the less-hot days in my memories.

Coding and Sleeping

654 murders (17.1 per 100,000)

Topeka beat that in 2001 (17.9 per 100,000).

Topeka decimated LA's rape rate. (68.5 per 100,000).

You can tell your mom that LA is safer than Topeka, KS.

It's fascinating comparing the stats for Chevy Chase (where I grew up) to DC (2 blocks from where I grew up).
