I just had a thought. Don't bother watching TV. I imagine the direct-to-DVD market for decent things, and not just pathetic Disney sequels, will be appearing fairly soon.

Looking for advice: I have to email a professor to ask if she'll let me into her history of math class even though I don't have all the prerequisites (specifically, Calc III and maybe Differential Equations). I think I have a pretty good case -- mainly, that I plan to be teaching math next fall and would like to have some history of math under my belt for it -- but I've never actually done this before. How do I phrase it?

you might want to mention other courses that you've taken that you think could be comparable. You could also ask to audit the class, which she may be more comfortable with (if you don't need the credit and are just taking it for hte info)
