Mal: Well, you were right about this being a bad idea. Zoe: Thanks for sayin', sir.

Is she taking water and keeping the water down?

Poor Ruby. I could be that her tummy is sore after the ribbon. But in my experience throwing up more than once is not good.

ETA: By not good, I mean it ended up being a trip to the vet.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Crazy New Yorker:

The game was delayed for four minutes in the eighth inning when an 18-year-old fan, Scott Harper of Armonk, N.Y., plummeted about 40 feet from the upper deck onto the netting behind home plate.

"That was the only exciting thing that happened today," Yankees owner George Steinbrenner said.

Harper told three friends he was sitting with that he was going to test whether the net would hold his weight -- and then he jumped, Det. Kevin Czartoryski said.

What is even happening?

Is she taking water and keeping the water down?

This is the primary thing, I think. I wouldn't leave any food out for her while you were gone, but I would leave water. I don't know how long a cat can go with out food. I do know with babies (and really, all humans), it is not important that they eat until the vomitting has passed. They do need liquid, though. And the pediatricians often stress that if you give them [whatever] that makes them vomit, in an attempt to get them not to dehydrate, they lose more than if they'd not taken in anything.

SEOUL, South Korea --A 28-year-old South Korean man died of exhaustion in an Internet cafe after playing computer games non-stop for 49 hours, South Korean police said Wednesday.

Lee, a resident in the southern city of Taegu who was identified only by his last name, collapsed Friday after having eaten minimally and not sleeping, refusing to leave his keyboard while he played the battle simulation game Starcraft.

Lee was quickly moved to a hospital but died after a few hours, due to what doctors are presuming was a heart attack, police said.

Lee had been fired from his job last month because he kept missing work to play computer games, police said.

Computer games are enormously popular in South Korea, home to professional gamers who earn big money through sponsorships and television stations devoted to broadcasting matches.

I wonder if he threw a clot or something. Yikes.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Cats are carnivores and are made to go long periods without eating, just as they would if they were hunting prey. I second Cindy--take the food away and leave water out. Check her out after work, and if her stomach is still upset, off to the vet with ther.

A phone company wants to drag a tiny Washington town into the 20th century, but many of Stehekin's 100 or so residents are kicking, screaming and e-mailing about the horrifying prospect of bringing telephone service to the remote region.

Stehekin does have a spectacular sense of isolation, considering that it is less than 100 miles from Seattle by air. I suppose the next thing they'll want is a road or something like that.

You can check a cat and dog's dehydration level this way: (all of this advice is from two separate vet friends)

Gently grip the animals skin anywhere, but around their ribs works best with my dogs so it might work with yours. Pulll the skin gently way from the body. If the skin slides back into place quickly, the animal is hydrated. If it stays tented from where you pulled, then the animal is dehydrated.

Sometimes, animals get into a funk where they don't drink water cause they feel sick. Then they feel worse, but they won't drink cause it might make them feel worse. If you notice your animal is dehydrated, before you visit the vet, you can force water down by taking a baster and shooting water into their mouths/down their throats. They will not like it. But if they have a little water in their stomach, then they might start to drink again.

YAY! I'm so glad it arrived. While I liked The Preservationist well enough, I realized after I mailed it that I should have sent you Gonzalez & Daughter Trucking Co to continue on with a prison theme.
