Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

is kind of hard to track down in the libraries

Actually, there's a copy at my local library right now. Hmm. Between you and sarameg, you're giving me an excuse not to patronise my fine local establishment.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

No need.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

oh crap.

There's a fire in the hollywood hills. Ashes are falling in our back yard and everything smells burnt. It's not especially close to us.

Do we close the windows or leave them open?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'd close them and run AC if you need to.

Yikes.

Yeah. It's just west of the 101, between Cahuenga and Laurel Canyon on the other side of the hill.

Okay, going to close windows. I just don't want our house to smell smokey.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yikes indeed. I'm almost glad all I've got outside my window is dueling car alarms.

(But those can stop any time. Really.)

Yeah, close 'em. The stink takes forever to air out otherwise. We used to have to change the filters and swamp cooler pads after local brush fires and even then it would linger.
