oh crap.
There's a fire in the hollywood hills. Ashes are falling in our back yard and everything smells burnt. It's not especially close to us.
Do we close the windows or leave them open?

I'd close them and run AC if you need to.
Yikes.
Yeah. It's just west of the 101, between Cahuenga and Laurel Canyon on the other side of the hill.
Okay, going to close windows. I just don't want our house to smell smokey.
Yikes indeed. I'm almost glad all I've got outside my window is dueling car alarms.
(But those can stop any time. Really.)
Yeah, close 'em. The stink takes forever to air out otherwise. We used to have to change the filters and swamp cooler pads after local brush fires and even then it would linger.
HA! The ash and the smoke kinda sucks, though the car alarms are definitely irritating.
The canyon on fire? Where Richard Dreyfus lives. Just a little trivia.
ooohhh.. I bet the sunset will be purty.

Okay, this explains the helicopters.
Definitely keep as much smoke and ash out as you can. Replacing filters on the a/c is much easier than getting everything steam cleaned and ash is bad to breathe.
Also? Yikes.
Though sunsets will be amazing with the ash in the air.
Oh, Kat. I'd close up and run the A.C., too. I hope it stays far from you, and that it's quickly controlled.
Is it already time for fire season? Because I thought we were still in dry season and had a while to go before flood season started.
Who says we don't have seasons?
