In Michigan. In California we have flexible 18-year-olds.
Yeah. Square.
Eh, I prefer to think of it as pentacular.
Oh, yeah, I don't mean to be dismissive of how wrong it is and what a pain it will be for you to deal with it. I'm just all "Look on the bright side" for some reason.Didn't come off as dismissive at all, I am just grrrr-ranty and frustrated because I checked about ten days ago to make sure the cards were coming and was assured that they were. Frankly, it's good for me to have the silver lining pointed out when I am in CassSmash mode. Especially since I can't afford to get too hurt until this is worked out.
I knew there was a reason that I filled as many random scripts as I could right before my old insurance ended. Told the Dr. that I wasn't sure if the new insurance would be set up without issues and better to have things like extra migraine meds and not need them then the alternative.
Cass, is there any chance you could say, "This is not acceptable. I need someone to call BC/BS and get the prescription issue worked out."
Blue Shield said, if you need your prescriptions right away, you will need to pay for them in full and then send in your bills to Blue Shield to be reimbursed.
Ugh. This happened to me at the ad agency. We switched companies, and because of their screw up, I didn't get a card for months. I caught the flu during that time period, and had a fever of well over 101. Dr.'s visit, prescriptions, everything had to come out of pocket until I got the card. Really not cool, and I just couldn't deal with it while I had the flu. It also kept me out of work for much longer than I should have been, because ifin I'd been covered, I'd have gone to the Dr. the 1st day instead of waiting for them to untangle the mess/get enough money to pay for everything. What I'm saying is, sympathies.
In slightly different news, I actually got heat-sick today. I've never had that happen. I'm guessing it had to do with the ozone alert, because usually heat just doesn't bother me as long as I keep water in me. A guy on the job site said I wasn't looking too good, I told him I felt fine, took 2 steps up the ladder and nearly fell backwards. They sat me down with a couple of cold towels and sent me home.
ETA: Not Cass, but

Usually not. Even if the co. calls, BC will just say rules is rules and shrug.

Do you have flexible Dick Graysons? Because that's what I really wanted.

You should come here and we could go on a quest.
This is SOP for health insurance companies. BC/BS won't commit to shelling out an indeterminate amount of money for prescriptions just because the company faxed over a correction. The two weeks really gives them some time to make sure everything is correct before making payments, because it's not like they're going to have much luck chasing down insureds who got benefits they shouldn't have, to pay those benefits back. They'd rather make the insured lay it out and then get reimbursed when the coverage situation shakes out.
If anyone should pay for Cass's prescriptions for those two weeks, it should be her company who screwed up the initial application.

That's basically how my insurance snafu was resolved (the HR director was a month off in the date she told me my insurance would be active, leaving me with an unexpected extra month of COBRA to pay, so I was told to give them the receipt and they would reimburse me for half of that month's costs).
