Two people laughed in my face for pronouncing "chimera" with a "CHIM-ur-uh" instead of "Ki-meeruh." Two! C'mon that one's not a gimme.
I once belonged to a club named Chimera. Hard to pronounce wrong after that.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

We still play draughts in Jamaica.
I get this weekly email from my local mystery book store, and thought this was pretty funny:
Now, I’m going to give a plug to a book that doesn’t really need it, and I know that some of you will groan. But, the new Robert B. Parker, BAD BUSINESS ($24.95) was just signed, and truthfully, I thought it was pretty good. (My one complaint is that I would have liked to see more Hawk, and less Susan, but that’s par for the course. More violence, less psychoanalysis. )
It makes me laugh that theoretically she's supposed to be selling these books -- "truthfully, pretty good"? Heh.
"CHIM-ur-uh"
It ISN'T? Uh oh.
I say "fack" for FAQ, too. How do you say URL? I spell it. Is it supposed to be "Earl"?
For URL, I say "you are ell." Never heard anyone say it "Earl."
So far, co-worker and erika are the only 2 people who say F-A-Q, rather than "fack."
Fackers, unite!
Um, I say "Earl."
Similarly I had pegged "gaoler" as "gail-er" instead of "jailer" and still read "cupboard" as "cup-board" instead of "cubberd."
I still read "gaoler" and "gaol" as gail.

Say it Earl, and I will fack your shit up, damn it.
It's U-R-L.
The other gives me freakin' hives.
(Though I fack for FAQ)
Um, I say "Earl."
Oy. Sweetpeach, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Say it isn't so. (weeps)
At w-o-r-k, many peeps say Earl. Drives me bonkers.
It's U-R-L.
I think that more people dont "Earl" because it's sounds too much like puking.
I would never have thought of fack...oh, well, fack it.
