I get confused. I remember everything. I remember too much, and... some of it's made up, and... some of it can't be quantified, and... there's secrets.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Sigh. I suppose I shouldn't automatically bristle upon hearing that, given that Fab is fairly young and just starting his career. But I wish QaF would cast some straight actors that didn't study at Kerr Smith's No, Really, I Promise I'm 100% Real Man School of Public Relations. Couldn't someone just say "nah, I'm not really gay, just an actor. Next question?"

Matt, I'll second your request. If you feel the need to constantly remind us how straight you are after taking the gay role, maybe you just shouldn't take the role...

What's a shame is that Filipo was obviously comfortable enough with the part to do a great job of it when the cameras were rolling, and had great role models for how to handle the press in Gale Harold, Scott Lowell, Thea Gill, and Michelle Clunie. Maybe having his Buffy character outed in absentia made him a bit oversensitive about the issue?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Michael C. Hall of 6 Feet Under fame liked to say to the press, "Nobody asks me if I'm a mortician." Then again, he also managed to get married right as the first season was ending IIRC. So, not much with the ambiguity.

I was a Faithite the moment she hit town. I think it was the lesbian subtext, and the screwing Xander. That she later tried to strangle Xander and wondered whether Evil took Mastercard was just icing on the Faith-love cake. She was just pushy enough to imply weakness, and who doesn't love a tough broad who is all melty inside with hidden vulnerability? Especially if said tough broad wears low-cut shirts and can kick above her head. Double especially if she has an existential crisis involving rain and eyeliner.

I can't even.

Yeah, I wouldn't have mentioned it, except that I noticed it and winced a bit, and I'm usually somewhat oblivious. I don't know, he's a young guy starting a month's run in his hometown (for the first time in 8 years), coming from a fairly macho community (I don't mean North York), probably felt the need to say something and maybe the reporter made a bit of a big deal about it. I agree with Matt and Sean. Not that he shouldn't take the roles, but that he should say, I'm an actor, move along.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Couldn't someone just say "nah, I'm not really gay, just an actor. Next question?"

Or how about just saying, "The character is gay, my sexuality is beside the point. I'm just the actor who plays him." Really, why do we feel we have a right to know someone's sexual orientation anyway?

I think part of the anxiety the actors have is that they won't be given straight roles if they are thought to be gay.

It's probably not an unfounded anxiety on their part, much as I hate to admit it. I don't recall Rupert Everett appearing in that many projects after My Best Friend's Wedding and The Next Best Thing catapulted him and his orientation into the spotlight. Though perhaps the career downturn is more properly blamed on co-starring in an execrable Madonna movie.

X-posted with Previously:

Does anyone know, off the top of your head, which episodes on the Season 4 DVDs have commentary? I know Restless does... but don't know the others.

Thanks!

Nobody

Nora, I am fairly sure Jane E does commentary for Superstar. Joss, Marti, and Seth Green make with very fun commentary on Wild At Heart. I disremember if there were others or not.
