This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.

Ken is my brother in ranking S5 last in terms of favorite seasons. My ranking goes: S3, S2/S6 (I go back and forth), S4, S1, and S5 way in the back.
The funny thing is that I got to Buffy through the Buffistas on TT. I started reading y'all before I even started watching the show. Then I got a break in my work schedule just at the right time to let me start watching repeats of S3 every day. I got hooked watching S3 repeats in Spanish. (You haven't lived until you've heard Angel dubbed into Spanish) Then I got cable, got S3 repeats in English every day and got brand spanking new S4 and that was it. I didn't see S1/2 until much later. In fact, only this year have I seen all of the S1 episodes.
1, 2, 3, 6, 4, 7, 5.
I think I found the Buffy thread through a Joyce Millman article.
Actually, before we were really Buffistas, I hung out in the Book Sluts and Literary Lounge Lizards thread. And during my last year of summer camp, a bunch of people from that thread sent me postcards. I had the best-decorated bunk of *anyone.*
God, I was a dork. At least now I've upgraded to geek.

(As a side note, I remember CoseyMo telling me about you back then -- I was saying how the thread intimidated me, and she said it shouldn't, that there were all kinds of people in there, including a really cool 13-year-old girl.)

Geek is a definite upgrade. Geek is good. Geek is chic.
Go geek!
God, I remember you posting from camp. How time flies...
I watched BtVS from the very first episode, but on S1 and half of S2 it was only sporadically, because I was on the last year of my BA and was never home on the 6:30pm hour it was shown in Israel. I tried to tape the episodes (and my little sister watched it, too, which helped in that), but more often than mot they got deleted before I got a chance to watch them.
Then I started my MA, moved, there was a students' strike in which I got to watch TV at any hour I wanted to, and before the middle of S2 it was a "must see" show for me, no matter what the obstacles are. I remember that when "Becoming II" aired, I was in the middle of helping a friend with some paper, and I just stopped everything and went to watch TV for an hour.
During S3 all my roommates were BtVS-fans (some 'on their own' and some with my help), and we used to watch episodes together and it was so much fun. I especially remember "Dopplegangland" was at the end of a fast and I felt terrible because I didn't drink anything for the entire day, and still it managed to make me laugh so much.
Of course, by the time S3 ended (skipping entirely on "Earshot", postponing GD for no reason other than this is how it was treated in the USA), the obstacles were too big even for me - the network lost the show, and due to some silly money-and-the-like power games, no channel in Israel bought S4. I thought I was going to be BtVS-less forever.
So I went looking for information on the net. I couldn't not-know what's going on, so I started reading episodes descriptions, once they aired in the USA (a bad habit I still can't shake). I also read the ones for "Angel". That's how I found the Buffistas - I looked for episodes discussion, because they told much more about an episode than the synopsis most places put up. I've been to Salon before for the articles - I think that the first thing I read there was due to curiosity as to how USA-ian communication channels describe the situation in the middle east - but that was pretty much the first board I've ever started reading.
I've lurked for a really long time before I dared post anything. I never had to express myself in English before that, definitely not to native-English-speakers, who use the language so fluently. I think that what made me finally delurk was a discussion in the Angel thread regarding AYNOHYEB having too many cultural references - IIRC, I wanted to point out that to a non-USA-native it wasn't an overload.
Oh, and sometime on the summer between S4 and S5 (and S1 and S2 of AtS), I lucked out to a tape fairy. I 'met' her online - I liked her site and e-mailed her about it, and before I knew it, *she* offered to dub her tapes and send me the copies. I was amazed at her generosity at the time, and I am still amazed now. Also, I feel very fortunate to have found such a friend.
I don't have a ranking for the seasons, even the 5 I've fully watched (I'm around the middle of the 6th now, having just watched "Wrecked").
I actually went back and looked at some of my first posts on TT, and god was I annoying. I sounded so... thirteen. And I think my sister was rude to Betsy.
You were not. !Sydney! was annoying. You were cute.
