Ugh. I have a good friend who I haven’t seen much the last year. And she and her gf decided to move to California. And I kinda hate her gf. And they said oh we will move in October and so we will be vaccinated soon and have an awesome last summer. But now it’s all through her gf, who says “oh we bought a house already so we have to get our current house ready to sell and I’m really busy with work so we can’t do the dinner the whole group planned to do now that everyone is vaccinated” and I’m really annoyed with her gf for gatekeeping and speaking for her? Which is unfair because my friend could speak if she wanted to. But also she’s very much someone who subsumes herself in relationships and I dislike that about her. So she probably wouldn’t come to dinner without her gf anyway, even though we were all friends with her long before they got together. And I’m so annoyed that probably they’re going to make plenty of time to see the gf’s friends before they leave town. And I know I should blame my friend for that but I’m hating on her gf instead. And knowing I’ll probably never hear from my friend once they leave and her gf with continue to make the decisions and speak on her behalf. I wish they’d break up. They almost did, a year or so ago, and then go back together real quick and it was such a bummer.

Ugh Dana, sorry for the family drama.

Mr. Mulder has decided to cat around and we haven't seen him since yesterday morning. We have a serious issues with iguanas and I am worried that maybe he got into a tussle with a particularly large aggressive one. They killed and mowed down all the tall reeds along the lakefront to try and wipe out the nests. But I probably saw 50 of them on my walk this morning. Iguanas may be cute, but they are nasty pests. I know the park rangers have been given the okay to shoot them so I expect any day to see a squad arrive to thin out the infestation. The may be waiting for the reeds to be removed completely.

I’m sorry, sumi. If it helps, I have four friends who’ve had breast cancer over the past 20 years, and they’re all still with us.

I just got some things in a good box from Amazon. I held it up in front of my older cat and told him that if he sat in it today we’d keep it and toss the current box. Otherwise the new box would go into recycling tonight. It is possible I’ve been living by myself for too long.

It's been an ok day here. Slept a little better, though I was still up before the alarm because of Nova. Gary made pancakes for breakfast, so that was nice. Mr. S continues to be annoying and bossy.

Sumi, I'm sorry to hear your diagnosis, but I'm sending you all the good ~ma that the treatment works.

Dana, I'm sorry about the family drama. You just never know.

I hope Mr. Scully did not get eaten by an iguana--not even a nibble.

meara, I know it's hard when one's friends drift away. I'll hope some new ones drift your way.

I've sent off my computer glasses to have one lens replaced, and I have no backup glasses, so I'm perching the laptop desk on the ottoman and the edge of the chair cushion and pulling the laptop partly onto my body to get it close enough to read, which is not a really stable situation. It slipped yesterday and I caught it, spraining or straining my wrist in the process, which I downplayed all evening until the ache woke me from a sound sleep. None of the thirty-odd wrist braces I own applied support in the right places and did apply pressure in the wrong places, so I found a sports wrap, and got back to sleep. Today I've been unwrapping and rewrapping it as the ache gets better or worse in various places. Overall I think it's improving, it's just...a demonstration of the sylphlike grace I've had all my life. Woe. Please pass the tylenol and Look over there! Squirrel!

Mom and I went out for an early Mother's Day dinner yesterday, and from there to visit the nearby house of an old friend of hers. It was just by happenstance, as we'd tried a couple of restaurants in different parts of town earlier and found their parking lots too crowded. By strange coincidence, said friend had pulled out an old photo of Mom holding me as a baby that afternoon and had it near at hand to show us when we stopped by. Good visit, it seemed to brighten both of them up quite a bit to have a chance to socialize a bit.

I also figured out how to get the sliding door of my closet back in its moorings, so no need to have my landlord call in the building's handyman.

My neighbor reports that she saw Mulder this afternoon. Said he was the neighborhood slut and hangs out with several neighbors and claims neglect at home. She said he was fine and would likely be home tonight. Surely if it rains.
