Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I still cannot believe Holli is a full-on adult with her own business and publishing career!

I went to a lovely holiday party last night (did take a covid test in advance), and over-indulged in seven fishes and lovely holiday cookies. Now I am baking the maple-walnut pie for tonight's dessert, and in a minute I will take the dog out for a much-needed walk. Later we will do breakfast and presents at my sister's house.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Aargh! I know I am getting old when I mix up Holli with shrift’s “real name”. I was so shocked when I learned it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I discovered the buffista random quote generator and sought out the people who made the funny.

My origin story as well. I didn’t lurk for long.

Vortex was on Salon and got me to join in late 1999.

I made monkey bread prepped last night and put in the oven this morning, and it is delicious.

The wide universe is the ocean I travel, and the earth is my blue boat home

Merry Christmas/Happy Last Sunday of 2022 from a surprisingly balmy Seattle (50 F). I'm glad the ice melted in time for Christmas but my body is confused about no longer needing multiple layers and a puffy coat to venture outside.

Love to be out here in these streets giving incongruity.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Just went for a dip in the rooftop pool! It’s a balmy 20 degrees (F) outside with light snow. Wonderfully contradictory sensations.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Holli now refers to herself as a fandom old on Tumblr, which I guess is technically accurate but still makes me feel dead.

And yet, you and shrift are still 23!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I joined the Phoenix board in 2002, I think. I lurked for a while, jotting post numbers on scrap paper so I could find my place in threads before I realized the board would do that for me if I joined. I think NoiseDesign and I delurked the same evening while talking about it on AIM.
