Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Well, the semester hasn't even started yet, and one of my colleagues already has Covid, so this seems like it's going to go great. I am so not ready for this semester to begin.

Our wings are not tired.

The Covid instances among the vaccinated is very concerning. My step-dad got it July 1st and it took 5 weeks before he tested negative! He's feeling better, just frail. Doctor says long Covid. Yes, he was vaccinated. But elderly with heart issues.

Sounds like an excellent way to start vaca, -t. Hope you hydrated when you got home!!

Ha! The beer golf carts are making me laugh.

Peach based cocktails and sangria tales are making me thirsty, but it's a little early yet. I guess.

Glad Matilda is back in the groove on day one!

Second day I've slept through my phone alarm, so I guess I need to change the song. Woke DH up but not me. Oops.

Huh. It looked like the dude who lives diagonally in the back yard view just waved from his deck, but I'm inside and sort of always assume no one can see in. Maybe I need to rethink that... for purposes of decency.

Anyway, good Thursday to you all.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anyway, good Thursday to you all.

So far so good. Did my run this morning. Making JZ's lunch (crabcake and salad).

And the daughter of my best friends, Alison, is in town and I get to see her on Saturday! I'm super excited to see Claudia because she's very smart and cool and I intend to spoil her rotten.

For the record, we have renamed Gimlet as Ringo. Because he's got bangs like Ringo.

Also, I've got three packages to mail today so that'll be fun.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Here is Gimlet's description from the animal control website: "Gimlet is a classic gem of a guinea pig gent, not unlike his namesake cocktail. He's well balanced (in his enjoyment of exploring and chilling in his hidey hole), is the epitome of good taste (leafy greens, yum!) and has a soupçon of elegance. Granted he lacks the scurvy-preventing lime of the gimlet cocktail, but he more than makes up for it in cuteness. "

Boy, that pig sure had your number. It didn’t even occur to me that you hadn’t picked that name. And the description is very us.

Edit: hahaha timing. Welcome Ringo!

I went to Isla Mujeres a few years ago and golf carts are common transport there. It makes so much sense for smallish-but-more-than-I-want-to-walk distances.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S decided to watch Toy Story 4. We actually saw this in the theater, but considering that he spent most of the movie running around, he probably doesn't remember much.

One of the houses from my "Ooh, I'd like to live there" list just went up for sale today, and I saw a For Sale sign in the front yard of another on my way back from driving by it (but they may be selling a vehicle rather than the house). Wish me luck on the house hunt, gang!

Our wings are not tired.

Full day. Left Otter Lake this morning and drove to Vermont via the ferry over Lake Champlain. Had a wonderful lunch at a pub in Waterbury and visited a lovely bookstore. Got to the inn and did the hot tub for a while, tried the pool, but my Florida blood couldn't handle it, napped, then ate complimentary fresh baked cookies, cheese and crackers, and hot chocolate in the hotel café. Leaving shortly to go to Stowe Bowl, which besides bowling has a quite yummy looking menu. I am going to gain 8 lbs this excursion. The inn has free bikes to use on the trails so I might take a ride in the morning. Lana wants to go horseback riding tomorrow so we might look for that option.
