Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Deena was/is there. Been a long time since she's been around, though.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I would rather work for the Mafia than a health insurance company, as I'd probably cause direct harm to far fewer people.

Sorry, I don't know of any Clevelandistas.

We're expecting (80% chance or better) rain and thunderstorms through Sunday. I love me some rain and thunderstorms, but even I think that's edging on excessive. Mostly because I'm meeting friends for a tour of a local arboretum on Saturday, and if it happens it'll be a muddy, sodden mess. Thunderstorms are for sitting on the sofa with some tea and a cat, reading murder mysteries.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Deena is not there anymore.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I know this is petty, but because I feel like I should generally be working more (I have a lot to do!), I LOVE IT when people notice that I am here early/late. There is a strong 9-5 culture here, with more senior people generally getting in early, so I'm glad that there are people who see me here at 8:30 or 5:30 and think that means I'm diligent.

Because books.

That's not petty, Jesse!

sj, how is Deena?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Our senior leadership works on a different floor, and most of the folks in my division roll in between 10-11, so I feel like my early-bird tendencies are totally wasted! I mean, yes, I get a ton of work done between 9-10 when I'm the only one here, but nobody is around to notice and see how diligent I am! Hmph!

I believe she is doing well. They moved because her hubby couldn't find another job where they were. I don't really feel comfortable sharing more information about her without her permission, but I'll let her know people were asking about her.

You get full credit with me, Jessica!

So last night I had one friend have a tornado land in her neighborhood, and another admitted to the hospital with pancreatitis.

Not enjoying this Friends In Jeopardy biz.

Herding cats for fun

I was just thinking about Deena. Tell her I said Howdy if you do ping her.
