I'm in a pancake house, eating a turkey dinner. A traditional Thanksgiving song, "Rio" by Duran Duran, is playing.

Is there a badge for almost making it through dinner before an in-law made a racist remark?
I'm picturing it being a little cartoon character holding its thumb and index finger close together in a gesture that says: So close....
Include me with those pissed on your account Ginger. When hospitals and care facilities suck, they suck mightily.
K-bug and I just got home from dinner. She had made a reservation at a restaurant we hadn't been to before but was advertising a Thanksgiving special. It turned out to be an oyster bar, so we skipped their Thanksgiving turkey dinner and had oysters, shrimp, muscles, and crabcakes. So. Much. Nom. Dessert was a Blondie brownie with salted carmel ice cream...again completely nom-a-licious. Might not have been a classic T-day dinner but we were too happy to care.
Now we are home and I'm trying to recover from the energy expended. So, turkey coma-esque.

There should be.
I went to a vegetarian restaurant with a friend. The main course was good, but we were not impressed by the dessert--it was billed as a pear tart, but really it was ricotta tart with a few slices of pear on it? However, we came back, are watching west wing, and I have stuffing and green bean casserole cooked, and am waiting on sweet potatoes to cook.
Our Thanksgiving was lovely and free from politics, unlike Nursing Home Thanksgiving, where my mother and I did a brilliant job of somewhat addressing the comment and then casually changing the topic. (The other person said something negative against being a Sanctuary City. I pointed out that if the local cops were concerned with people's immigration status, they wouldn't have time to do anything else...)
Am current watching The Pilgrims from American Experience, and am glad to see that my donors are still in place.
SuziQ, that sounds delicious. I don't ever want to eat again, but if I did, that would be great.
I have my tree up and the lights on it. I'm not sure how much decorating I'll do tonight, but the lights are nice.
I spent the day hiding from people and letting TJs and Costco feed me, which they did very well (and will do so tomorrow too)
It was kind of awesome.
Thanksgiving was uneventful unenjoyable. food was fine. just 4 of us. not much to talk about since we see each other all the time. I watched football for the first time all year since we always do and my dad always has sports on, but he only halfway watched and during halftime was even watching something else on his pad with the volume up which wow, way annoying. I bought mom and dad's Christmas online and it was on sale, so yay. Mac maybe said 5 words to any of us, then fell asleep and was super grouchy and not helpful when I woke him to come home.
It's been raining for 7 hours and may rain for the rest of the weekend.
I am glad I got up and watched the parade/cooked by myself this morning, that was the best part of the day. At least I am home now and have wine.
oh, I did gather some things from my parents' house that are mine and need to be sold and I got them to pull a bag full of books to get rid of, so that is something.
Tomorrow's plan is to drop off 2 bags of stuff and 2 tables at thrift store, then take 2 bags of books to half price books.
