ETA: For those wondering, I did eventually make it to my mom’s house. Despite the fact that she kept trying to tell me not to come, I’m very glad I did. She is clearly exhausted and stressed, and she seems a bit less so now that I’m here.
Yay ignoring the poopheads! And yay getting to your mom's house finally and helping her out. And SUPER YAY to my friend who came over with all his tools (though he really only needed a screwdriver and his electrical tester thing to see if the power was on once we flipped some switches) and replaced all seven of my crazy beeping smoke detectors. WHEW! It was driving me nuts. Sadly I did not go to the dancing this evening like I was supposed to (he was here until about 8:30 and it's over at 10, and I'd have to change and stuff), but oh well. I guess it's incentive to go to bed early and get up for the 5K in the morning that I haven't registered for? (Not registering means there's more likelihood my alarm will go off and I'll say "naaaah, I don't need to RUN")
Sounds like it's a good thing you're there, Pix.
And yay Nora for ignoring the poopheads!
I saw some old friends from grad school days tonight. It was really nice! Plus tostada, although I was confused because we went to El Coyote, which I mixed up in my head with El Cholo (both classic LA Mexican restaurants) and so I was planning on getting the tostada compuesta. But that's at El Cholo, not El Coyote, so oh well. Still tasty.
I just saw someone invoke Jonathan Pollard in an attempt to show that the US was right in not taking in Jewish refugees during WWII, because Jews are, in fact, dangerous.
Uhhh. I got nothing. Whoever said that falls in the "Life is too freakin short to talk to you" category.

Yeah. I've seen a few people arguing about Jews being communists, but this is the first time I've seen Pollard brought into it.
The Chicago version of Burrell's story would be the 10 minutes it took us the other night to figure out if the dinner we were going to in Chinatown was at the original Triple Crown or the upstart Original Triple Crown (lawsuit pending).
Meara, I'm supposed to run 7 miles today. But it's COLD and it's supposed to RAIN and I really don't want to! So I may postpone and run tomorrow. I don't know how anyone runs in cooler climates. I guarantee I never would have started my running if I didn't live in SoCal.
I was going to get up and go to the supermarket early today. I am....almost ready to go? Pretty sure it will still be better than 4pm today or after work tomorrow.
OK, after turning in early last night and getting 8 1/2 hours sleep, I went to Waffle House for a cheesy egg breakfast and am now ready to go back to bed.

Trader Joe's was busy yesterday, and a little busier than a regular Saturday, but not bonkers. The only problem -- and we usually run into this problem on a Saturday anyway -- was finding parking. So Tim dropped me off and I started shopping while he circled the parking lot until someone left.
