All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Catching up on news from Mizzou (my undergrad) is depressing.

brillig

Terry Jones' Medieval Lives is on DVD and I own it! I've only seen the bad You Tube videos, and it's wonderful to see it all in good resolution. His "Ancient World" is on its way as well. I adore BBC documentaries.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'll bet aurelia. One of my colleagues is teaching freshman, and because it's on topic for the class (Writing and Identity) he asked his students what they knew about Mizzou and whether they thought USC was better, worse, or about the same when it came to racial segregation. It was depressing but not surprising to hear that the students of color all said it was about the same. I can see it from my spot at the front of the class, and I can see the way some folks get eyed as they walk around campus like they might not have business being there even though as far as I'm concerned, if there's a college campus right in the middle of your neighborhood, you have a right to be there. The fences they've built? Piss me off and I know they piss off the people who live around there.

I'm very curious what my brother in law (who is a black Mizzou alum) thinks about it all. I'm sure he has some really interesting stuff to say (he also works in diversity in higher education so it's his professional stuff too, so he's really great to listen to when he feels like talking). But he's more an in person guy than a phone or Facebook guy.

Oo I'd love to hear what he has to say too.

Took a cat to the face. Luckily the light, agile one. Stuck her landing with no claws. At least I hadn't put lotion on my face yet.

Ann, that's a ferret.

sara, our Seamus did something like that to me recently when I was trying to put him in the carrier. I had to remind him that we were NOT remaking Alien.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I would love to go visit Ginger and do a marathon declutter. Can't see a time that would allow though. Maybe a weekend next year.

ION - I fell down an Outlander hole last night. I think I watched the first 4 episodes.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have been halfway planning my vacations for next year and was already thinking before this discussion that a long weekend to Georgia to do whatever for Ginger might be useful and even though I could very well be doing the very things at Ginger's house that I don't want to do at my house, packing and cleaning and hauling other people's stuff is way more fun than doing my own.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think the doughnut fairy is gone for good. Sigh.
