Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

Yikes!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh, -t, I had no idea there was such a thing that could save video from a dvr--ours urped on its way to ded this past summer, and I had whole seasons of shows saved I'd been unable or not in the mood to watch real time...all gone. I'll just wait and hope Netflix eventually runs them.

A whole swarm of people just descended on a neighbor house. The woman who's lived there since we moved in has always been a recluse--she even took the house number off--blinds always drawn, no visitors, etc. They've scurried in and out this afternoon in coveralls, masks, and rubber gloves, hauling out trashbags and piling them into a van and a pickup truck bed. H says he saw her on Friday--evidently she's moved to AL and left her house to be cleared out. BTDT for my mom's house, don't want to do it again, even for family.

But! While H ffs through Broncos vs. Colts, I'm reading fic on the couch in my new plaid fleece indoor pants, chasing fresh-baked wheatless (rice bran, rice and oat flour) peanut butter chocolate chip cookies with a crisp Fuji. Right now, life's pretty good.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Our DVD player is broken which makes Noah and Grace extremely sad because they can't watch Star Wars. But, as they are children, they are content with Clone Wars.

I'm using this thing, Burrell [link] Gonna try using it to transfer some old VHS tapes after the DVR. When I think I'm gonna actually watch this stuff I have no idea. I hope the series you lost become available to you in a convenient manner, that sucks.

Whoa on the neighbor. Good that someone not you is dealing with it. Doesn't sound fun to have going on nearby. Sofa etc. sounds excellent!

The turnip and corned beef hash is not bad! Possibly evil, or wicked, that is, but tasty. I just used all the turnips I had and all the corned beef that was leftover from whenever I made corned beef (it's been in the freezer for quite some time) and I was concerned that the turnip:meat ratio would be too high, but it seems to be okay.

Went out to try to finally buy new winter boots. Alas, they didn't have my size in the model I wanted, but since I was able to check sizing on the brand...these [link] will be arriving soon. They'd better last at least 3 years- I've been forced to buy new boots every winter as they spring leaks. 3 years cost would equal these. Almost got the grey but said fuckit, these are for slogging out in nasty winter, I'm going for fucking bright and cheery. I'm trying to stray from utilitarian colors for utilitarian items.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, that sounds good. I should be making some hash, given the quantities of root veg currently in my house.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Folks from our dance group threw us a "welcome baby" party. It was very nice, and we have a bunch of thank-you notes to write.

Yay for bright and cheery slogging boots!

Yay party!

I have been slacking on eating down my pantry and I need to stupid up. The hash is a good start.
