Fabulous photos, Steph!
Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Great costumes, Tep!
I am intrigued by this cardamom-infused sugar concept.
I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year, maybe next year, but I'd be happy to wave pom poms for anyone who is! Discussion has certainly happened in Great Write in past Novembers.

I made these cookies: [link]
To save a click, part of the process involves putting five cardamom pods and half a cup of sugar in a closed jar for 4-5 days. You use that sugar for dipping the cookie dough balls before baking, but there's lots left over. I made two batches with the half-cup and still have more than half of it left. Seemed a shame to waste it.
Ooh, that sounds good.
Saw a guy this morning in a red and white striped shirt and only today would I wonder if he was in costume as Waldo.
Calli, I'm doing NaNo. I was iffy on it, until I mentioned it in front of a friend, whose entire family is doing it, so now I kinda have to. Once again, I'm forced to have fun. Dammit. Still haven't settled on a concept, though.
Food safety question: say I left a turkey and bacon sandwich in a car for six-seven hours at about 40 degrees F last night. Refrigerated after I got home. Can I eat it? It smells okay and I've nuked it for a couple minutes.
Ooh, and I have cardamom pods lying around. Thanks, Calli!
I think I have successfully made Creamy Scrambled Eggs! Which is to say, figured out what "medium-low heat" means on my stove, which might prove useful for other recipes. Anyway, tasty. Also, used creme fraiche in my coffee because I left my cream at work and I tastes fine. So that's good to know.
One of the guys in IS (what we call IT b/c a different department is called IT) wore khakis and a red polo shirt yesterday, someone had to tell me that he was in costume as That Guy at State Farm. Apparently he had on a name tag and phone headset to complete the look but I only saw him in passing and didn't notice)
There was a guy at the Halloween party last night dressed as a centurion -- helmet, Roman sandal-looking shoes, a red cape...and basically a g-string. That's all. He kind of kept the cape draped over him, but would dramatically fling the cape back to reveal his lack of clothes. I could not stop laughing.
I didn't tell him the g-string probably wasn't historically accurate. He was in great shape, so there's that.
Another one of our friends was dressed in regular clothes, with a white lacy shirt. And under the shirt, at boob level, she had 2 of those big round tap lights. Her boyfriend was dressed in regular clothes, but with a reindeer headband dealie that had antlers.
They were a deer caught in headlights.
They were a deer caught in headlights.
Fantastic.
would dramatically fling the cape back to reveal his lack of clothes.
also fantastic
Hah. There was a guy in Roman fighting getup last night also, but it was the leather flappy skirt thing. There were also several boys wearing orange Zorro type masks and gstrings with a flashing mini pumpkin in front covering their junk. But we were at a gay bar, so this was not surprising.
