Dana, I've been known to use binder clips and other office supplies to put up my hair before.

I tried the binder clip first, but it wasn't effective enough to make it worth the headache it would probably cause. And my hair's not long enough to use a pencil any more.
I'm sorry, brenda. I am glad you're out of that toxic environment though.
My hair is too fine for the headphone trick to work. Pens and pencils are my go-to when I have no hair ties or rubber bands, but then again my hair is long enough to pull that off.
sara, I'm so glad that you get to transition to Aura!
Just went to the travel medicine clinic and it was surprisingly great! The NP was super cool and totally willing to prescribe the preventives I'd hoped, and recommended some others. And I got two vaccinations right then and there (that part I'm figuring will suck tonight but ah wel)
NPR's posted the result of their Tiny Desk Contest, and the winner is really interesting. I didn't think I liked it at first, but it's really haunting.
(Really. No, really. Reallllly.)
Wow, Dana. I hope she becomes more well-known after this.
Ugh. Missing credit card is not in my pants I wore yesterday. Here's hoping the bar has it. :(
Yeah, Dana, I heard her on the radio this morning -- it was really interesting!
Yay sara, Big Ba-Da-BOOM!
I'm sorry brenda. But at least it's past tense, now.
Magically reappearing card, meara.
I will have to listen to Tiny Desk later. Dana, my hair is straight, slick, and fine and won't hold most retention aids. Lacking pinchy-clips, which do work, I do two thin braids to hold the bulk of the hair back, and self-knot the braids. The knot does come loose, but it usually holds for an hour or two.
