"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I just stress ate a jumbo brisket sandwich. But I earned it today: I decided against calling in sick and got rewarded with 10 hours of my inbox blowing up with blazingly overdue files that all had to go out before tomorrow regardless of how many days I was supposed to get to work on them. Including the editor who sent me TWENTY SEVEN emails today waiting until 6:30 to tell me about the two most urgent files, one of them with 120 edits.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Wow, Matt.

My boss is in Paris for two weeks, and today is the first day I had nothing to do. So I napped too much (I'm working from home now), read a lot of blog posts about Trump, and watched that documentary on Scientology.

Last week was much worse. My work computer died, and my boss had to come over and bring me some install DVDs. This was the first time my boss has been to my messy apartment, and I had an hour warning. (But the experience ended up not being as bad as I feared.)

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hi People!

I am totally behind at work, and home, and life, and here. I am getting too use to that.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

All right. I've eaten dinner. I have spicy chicken in the crock pot. I should get up and make a frittata. Maybe pea shoots, prosciutto, and gruyère...

I'm working from home now

Temporarily, or is this your new normal?

New normal. There's just my boss and I, and he decided to save money and close the Highland Park office. He has the server in his home office and I use a VPN.

My aunt got trached today :/ Was hopeful that could be avoided but no. She's been watching my mom, but not responding. Mom hopes she's boring her with her constant chatter out of the fog. Carolyn never had any patience with boring, or not engaging.

The hospital chaplain has reached out to my mom and apparently been an awesome sounding board. No god talk around Carolyn (she don't do that) just being a place mom can voice, on her terms. I'm immensely grateful. mom doesn't need god talk either, but she needs people she can talk to and cell coverage is spotty on the OHSU mountaintop site, & her b&b a walk away.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I feel like Emmett would support me in this.

You are so correct.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh sara, I'm so sorry. It must be so hard for you to be so far away from them right now.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Sara, I'm thinking good thoughts for all of you. I'm glad your mom has a support person locally.

That is such a shame about the bookstore. Even accidental book burning pings me.
