That doesn't sound like enough days off a month, aurelia...
I don't disagree. I might get a break mid-April, but then I'll be slammed until War Paint opens in mid-July. And I'm going to have to handle some touchy personnel issues during that time.
I might make the dark-chocolate Guinness cake with Bailey's cream-cheese icing again this year.
I've been baking bread all weekend. I'm blaming GBBO.
Oh, totally.
The cake is done and frosted, complete with itty little cupcakes made with the excess batter. But I think I screwed it up a little bit: it said to put the cake into the fridge to chill before frosting, and I think I should have put plastic wrap on it, because when I took it out to frost, the edges were hard and dry. Ah, well, it's just for the family.
So where can I see the red carpet, if I don't have a television? Any ideas?
Wow, Saoirse Ronan looks amazing.
I just saw a fake ad for Turkish Airlines announcing new flights to Gotham City. Obviously, this is a tie-in for the movie, but I love that they had to put a disclaimer on it saying "This is not an actual destination that Turkish Airlines flies to."
I can't find any seats available to Gotham! WTF, Turkish Airlines?!?!
Thing I learned on the news: the Oscar statue is more muscular this year.
I am at the airport, so I will be enjoying the Oscars vicariously through you guys.
That sucks, meara. I'm sorry.
The marriage penalty also sucks. Grr.
I saw that Gotham ad a while back, it's kind of great in its deadpan-ness. But I don't think I want to go to Gotham, seems dangerous.
Well, lawn is mowed and edged. It still looks pretty terrible, but I am pretty much out of juice. I should at least sweep up the cuttings, but I meet be too out of juice for that. We'll see after I finish typing this post.
It's been a frustrating day. There was the coffee spillage, then my lunch failed to include the guacamole that I added on after the fact, so that's understandable but still disappointing, at least one of the little windows in my garage door broke, and the lid on my weed eater flew off and disappeared. It's bright orange, I don't know why I can't find it. Anyway, I think all that is adding to my tiredness. On the bright side, I accidentally pulled out the electric lawn mower I thought was busted and it actually worked so, yay for that. I thought the motor was burnt out but I guess it just needed a rest.
I'm at the airport ready to board and go home. The teenage guys sitting behind me need to be smacked for how they talked about a girl who texted one of them and had the temerity to use the word "like" in the colloquial sense. (Guy 1: "She texted 'It took us like 2 hours to get home.'" Guy 2: "She's in danger of becoming a basic dumb girl." Asses.)
I loved the bit where they CGI'd Leslie Jones into The Revenant in place of the bear.
Mom's in Portland now. Probably at the hospital as I post. Some other guests at the b&b she's staying at also are there for someone in the same hospital, so they were giving her a ride. It's a walkable distance, but she's glad to have a ride there and back the first time. She'll be there at minimum a week. Another sister and a cousin are slated to go up later. Unfortunately, this has triggered my other aunt's ptsd from her husband's death a few years ago.
There's a chance my aunt may be trached tomorrow, but they may hold off as her spontaneous breathing trials are going better, so if it looks like they can extubate her in the next couple of days, they'll ignore the 14 day rule. Now they're concerned about her kidneys, either stones or missed damage. This on top of the broken ribs, arm, possibly needing surgery on her back and ankle once she gets stable, small clots in lung and leg, the stroke... god. I don't think Molly's had a moment to even mourn her dad.
Depending on how things go, and reports on wifi access, I might look into going up later and working remotely if needed. We'll see.
