The managerial theory I've heard is that you can't give people top marks or they'll stop striving for improvement, and there's always something that can be improved. Because apparently employees who feel satisfied with their job and feel well-rewarded become lazy.

This year we have been told to make our goals just our job description.
Man, that sounds great.

Oh, so that's my problem. I was lazy to begin with! There's nothing to strive for!
That's pretty great, Gud!
Hey, Kate, do you have a realtor recommendation? Since he has time, husband wants to spend a bit of time looking around to see what's what.
Our realtor was fine -- I wouldn't say he went above and beyond, but then our search and sale were both pretty straightforward. His name is Daniel Hayes; here's his website: [link]
Let me know if you want any specifics on neighborhoods. Do you have any idea where you'd be looking? Or where his potential office is?

I thought this when I first started, but my boss here helps me come up with really great and achievable goals that make me feel good when I accomplish them, and have me learning and growing. I do have to say that this boss is the only one I have ever had who takes the year-end review as an opportunity for my professional growth and to talk about what I want to be doing, so it is nice.
Yeah, it would be a shame to lose a review process that is working for you. i Hope this new thing doesn't take away all that.

I can't understand why upper management would want to encourage something like that!
I just did my goals. Two are actual things that I am working while the other two are total BS. The new system is called "MyJourney". And it is supposed to allow for more dynamic feedback and such - we will see.
Ours is called MyPath.
Drew, from a bit back, I'm so sorry your sister is making this time even harder for you.
Still sick at the writing retreat. This stinks. But I was an adult and scheduled both the annual boobsmash and a faaaabulous (not) ultrasound for when I get home. (unrelated to the sick). I really would like that jetpack instead of the current situation, but I also don't want anything to be really wrong. GAH. Between the chemist and me, we are a pair this year. A ~ma hoarding pair.
I saw Sheryl & Gary & sprog last weekend AND Connie and this was wonderful.
