Coming from New Orleans, would any place other than Memphis and Detroit NOT be super fucking white by comparison?
Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
OMG, Connie, thanks for posting the Ballad of the Malheur Patriots. I think I have a new tagline:
storming a building surrounded by ducks.
Cincinnati city is actually very close to being majority minority, although the metro region is pretty white. There's a lot of de facto segregation, though, in many areas of life. Much depends on where you choose to live (and while the neighborhood where Hil lives is pretty white, it is also home to the most truly diverse place I know in the city - the Hyde Park Kroger. Everyone from P&G executives to poor people, of all ethnicities, shops there.) As someone who moved here from the south, I will say Cincinnati is NOT Southern in its street vibe and hospitality level.
I am not sorry that Scalia is done on the court, but, trust me, Alito is way more of a problem than Scalia.
Timelies all!
Going out to brunch for Valentine's Day because Gary has to fly out for a business trip late this afternoon.
Apparently I'm melancholic. Although, not specifically about Scalia.
In other news, go Arsenal!
I am lying in bed watching Pix's progress in the LA Marathon live on my phone. Living in the future.
Go, Pix! You're doing great!
Go Pix go!
Me, I took a loaf of bread out of the machine (came out great, although oddly short), and am trying to resist eating the entire thing, and must go running instead.
Go Pix! May the trill of the crowd carry you along. Your determination and endurance through the obstacles thrown in your way have been most impressive. Zoe is wagging her tail and howling in support too.
My first marathon (Disney World) was 6:59:34, which was spectacular compared to my time for the LA, something like 8:15. I walked, and not all that fast!
Go Pix! I will cheer you forward, with my cup of coffee!
Happy Valentines Day, everybody!
We have nothing planned to celebrate but I should perhaps go see if there's a goodie I can pick up from the new neighborhood Sees. The real celebration in our house is tomorrow, DH's birthday. He wants a cheesecake, preferably homemade. I have never made one before but I figure he knows that going into this. So I need to hunt down a good cheesecake recipe today. I was thinking of starting with my various cookbooks since I've inherited a nice collection over the years. Any recs?
