I really want to believe that, come election day, the number of people who are going to petulantly stay home (or vote for the GOP candidate) because their preferred Democrat didn't get the nomination will be so small as to not matter. Or it will be people in a state like California that always goes overwhelmingly Democrat, so their hissy fit will be diluted and, again, not matter.
But I'ma punch people here in Ohio if they try that nonsense. I plan to vote for Clinton in the primary, and I don't actually think Sanders can win the general election, but I will by god vote for whichever one of them gets the nomination.
Hillary is a
t shudder
Clinton, but Bernie is a
t dear god!
Socialist, which everyone knows means godless Communist, so I'm hoping Clinton get the nomination, because we've got a few more decades to go before the kneejerk mainstream will understand what a socialist really is.
It's a rant that has been building up for a while. I started it on FB, but then thought, "Do I really want to hit that 'Post' button? There's a small, sad voice deep inside of me saying that no good can possibly come of this." And so I brought it home.

That's why I don't think he can win. I like him a lot, and I'd be happy with him as POTUS, but I think Clinton is a lot more likely to win the general.

Yeah, the weird political stuff on FB isn't coming from where I thought it would (family members who are practically caricatures of wingnuts); it's coming from my brother and his new rush of posting Ayn Rand shit and some other liberal friends who are busting out the tirade of "BERNIE OR NOTHING!" or "CLINTON OR NOTHING" and accusing supporters of their non-preferred Democrat to be poseurs and/or misogynists and whatnot.
People! You must chill! I have taken your keys!
Hopefully whatever abomination comes up with the Republican nomination will convince the more reasonable of the "my way or the highway" people that the lesser of two evils is a necessity in realpolitik.
The one that worries me on my Facebook is the one who's all excited about Bloomberg. If Bloomberg runs, the Republican will
definitely
win, and it's not going to be John Kasich.
Won't Bloomberg split the Republican vote and ensure a Democratic victory?
And Ted Cruz is promising to bring in a theocracy. God help us (and I use the phrase advisedly).
My less than 3 hours of sleep last night (IDK why, I just couldn't get to sleep. Perhaps a diet coke too late in the day, but that seems like an extreme reaction) is catching up with me. I don't think I'm going to be able to actually be productive in the next two hours. The number of typos I have corrected in this post is pretty astounding.
Trump's candidacy keeps reminding me of that one history class where we covered fascism in depth. It's depressing and frightening.
