Belated, forgotten pro tip: don't go to Trader Joes the day before the Super Bowl. I saw the lines, thought WTF, but didn't clue in until listening to the convos in line and surveying carts(not my regular TJs.) OTOH, they were running freebie contests (handing out #s and whenever a kid was at checkout, they spun a wheel) and I won! Got an extra tub of the almond biscotti (you got to pick.)
But holy jesus, last time I ran into lines like that was the first week of the Pikesville opening.

We went today and it was actually okay. It was busy, but no worse than a regular Saturday. Possibly because we went around 5, so maybe it's not as bad as dinnertime approaches.
The Columbia location is definitely worse than my usual(I only go there on haircut days) but this was a shitshow. I was lucky to get in line when it was only halfway across the store; when I hit checkout, all were to the back.
So, like, if I went to TJ's
during
the Super Bowl...
For years I used to go to the grocery store right after kickoff of the Super Bowl. It was fantastic. The only caveat is that you'd better not want chips, etc. or beer.
What time is kickoff tomorrow? I'm hoping to have a quiet day at work.

I was planning on going to Costco then.
I'm craving Doritos right now, but I bet the chips aisle of the 24 hour supermarket is a barren wasteland.
I was too bedraggled (soccer tournament, sick kids, finishing a 5K) yesterday to go to TJs. Instead I went to our local Vons and I got tricked into buying a green salsa that was labelled as avocado sauce. I thought it was guacamole. SO BEREFT.
I had a dream last night that I ate an entire package of oreos.
Timelies all!
We're doing our weekly grocery run this afternoon. I guess we'll see what's left in the chips and salsa departments...
